We are pleased to inform you that two-day HERE Seminar ‘’Closing the skill gaps in higher education’’ was held in the premises of Ministry of education, Science and Innovation of Montenegro which was organized by Montenegro’s National Erasmus+ Office on the initiative of HERE team. The seminar was organized with the support of SPHERE team consisting of OBREAL global (coordinator) and European University Association (EUA).
The guest lecturer in the seminar was prof. Christina Theodoraki, full professor (HDR1) in Entrepreneurship (IAE Aix-Marseille).
Bearing in mind that we are witnessing drastic changes in terms of the needs of labor market, which is becoming more demanding towards university graduates, and that many university graduates have significant skill gaps for modern and demanding labor market, this seminar served as amazing opportunity to find suitable solution to overcome such challenges.
In the opening part of the event, Vanja Drljević head of the National Erasmus+ Office, addressed the audience and emphasized the role of the HERE team, results that this team achieved, as well as the importance of such events for improving system and quality of higher education. In the introductory part of the event, Dragana Ćetković, general director of the Directorate for Higher Education and Student Standards before the Ministry of Education, Science and Innovation of Montenegro, spoke, who pointed out that higher education institutions can no longer play the role of only transmitters of theoretical knowledge, but proactive partners in national and regional development, ready for social and technological changes. Brigitte Kuchar, program manager of the Cooperation sector of EU Delegation in Montenegro, also addressed the audience and highlighted the importance of the programs such as Erasmus+ and also the importance of such events for the improvement of the higher education system.
The representatives of academic community, actively participated in the seminar; on the first day of the seminar, a panel discussion was organized in which participated representatives from University of Montenegro – prof. Biljana Šćepanović (moderator) and prof. Vesna Popović Bugarin participated in discussion. Beside them, prof. Dijana Kovačević from University of Donja Gorica and prof. Žana Knežević from Mediterranean University also participated and representatives of the non-academic sector, Vuko Jovanović from the Chamber of Economy of Montenegro, as well as Slaviša Šćekić from the Employers Federation of Montenegro, also participated.
